yoga & relaxation

Time: 7-8.30pm

Prices from January 2019: 8 week course £64 – booking and payment in advance of course. If you are new to yoga and would like to try a taster session for £10 to decide if you would like to sign up for the 8 week course. Please note spaces are limited to 15 people, to avoid disappointment please book in advance, sadly spaces cannot be held without full payment.

Where? Classes are held at The Beacon (formally known as The Knight Club) Beacon Lane, Beacon Heath, Exeter, Devon, EX4 8LZ, parking available in nearby Chancellor’s Way and Iolanthe Drive

What to wear? Something that has stretch in it so you are able to move comfortably

Equipment: Yoga mats, blocks and straps are provided.


The Class – Yoga is being recognised for its health benefits and well being as it is a slow exercise leaving you plenty of time to put in effort without strain and pain. It’s not competitive with other people or yourself so take responsibility for your own body and what it can and can’t do.

  • Stretching gives you flexibility
  • Postures (Asana’s) give you strength, toning to establish good posture, improves balance
  • Breathing improves blood circulation, getting oxygen into the blood, energy levels
  • Yoga is also about calming of the mind. So we practice in silence allowing ourselves to listen to our bodies and relax the mind.

Each class will begin with 10 minutes of relaxation to help you settle in after your busy day, followed by 1 hour of yoga and finish with 20 minutes of total relaxation where you can wrap up in a comfy blanket, snoozing is encouraged…. You are guaranteed to feel wonderfully refreshed by the end of the class and get a great night’s sleep!

The 8 week course is designed for all levels of health, working within your own comfort level we explore poses that are suitable for good health and well being. Over the 8 weeks we work on a series of lessons designed to focus on the whole body. We also look at visualisation through the use of  breath to help relax and calm the mind.

The reason why it’s an 8 week course is that by practicing once a week you start to see the wonderful benefits of yoga after 6 weeks. As the teacher I can guide you but the work is put in by you.

*Please note this course is aimed at teaching people how to get in touch with their body and understand how the body works for good health, rather than a general “keep fit class”. Yoga classes are not substitutes for specialist support, psychotherapy, support group, clinical or medical services.
